Union Square Aberdeen Supper Safari

Ever eaten so much food that you actually feel like you’ll explode? Then eaten more cos it’s all so delicious? Yeah? Then you’ll understand how I felt after the Supper Safari!

I thought I’d eaten ALL THE FOODS before. I was wrong.

It all began in Las Iguanas. Union Square had arranged for a group of bloggers to meet up there for cocktails before touring some of the best eateries it has to offer. I’ve always liked the atmosphere in Las Iguanas and the food is much better than some other similar chain restaurants but I’ve always mainly visited for the cocktails cos they are the bomb!

Being pregnant I have to pretend I’m drinking alcohol, so I went for the Raspberry Cooler and it was delicious, all full of raspberry puree and elderflower goodness.

Next up was Yo! Sushi for our starters. I love this place but I hadn’t tried their new menu yet so was eager to give some new dishes a try. I opted for Ramen Noodle Salad, Tofu Katsu Curry (which is finally back on the menu where it belongs!) along with miso soup.

We headed to Byron for our main course and by this time I was already starting to fill up. Despite it being well known for its burgers I somehow felt confident that if I ordered a small Roasted Beetroot, Piquillo Pepper & Feta Salad I’d be fine. I wasn’t. I couldn’t even finish it. But I did manage to finish my Reese’s (TM) Peanut Butter Cup milkshake which I now crave on a daily basis. So, so good!

This is when I should have given up, but dessert was to be had in Carluccio’s and pudding is my favourite. There was no way I wasn’t going to try some. So I ordered the lightest thing on the menu which was sorbet. It came as two scoops so I ordered mandarin and melon and the melon one especially was just delicious. Really fresh and clean and tasted of pure sweet and juicy melon! Ignore the hot chocolate in the picture, I managed one teaspoon of it before I almost KO’d but what I had was good!

I basically had to roll myself back to the car, luckily I already waddle and hold my tummy so my pregnancy hid my aching stomach! I can’t fault any of the food or drinks I had and although I’ve been to Yo! and Las Iguanas before and they’re firm favourites, I loved my first time at Byron and Carluccio’s and will definitely be back, but maybe try some self-control next time!
