Over the summer we don’t really watch much TV, but with autumn on its way I decided to sign up for Netflix. That and an apparent need for “more Paw Patrol”, which has turned into an obsession with Dinotrux!
Although I love movies of all genres, I must admit I am a sucker for an easy to watch film at the end of a hard day. Something I don’t have to think to hard about; something to make me laugh or give me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside, and Netflix has supplied the goods!
Here are five movies that have ticked that box recently:
Wine Country
A group of friends head to Napa Valley to celebrate a 50th birthday. They haven’t seen each other for a while so the truth about their lives and relationships with each other comes spilling out. This is just my type of humour but shows how great female friendships can be. It has also inspired me to organise a girls getaway while I’m still 40!
The Spy Who Dumped Me
Getting dumped is bad enough, but imagine finding out he’s a spy with a queue of deadly assassins after him and you hold the key to saving the world! Audrey and her bestie Morgan pretty much wing it, as any of us would!
Falling Inn Love
This has been done so many times before but the formula just works. Girl packs it all in and escapes crappy life situation, dislikes local hottie but they’re forced together and love blossoms. Then something/someone from the past rears it’s head and you have a will they/won’t they moment. This is just the kind of escapism I like!
Always Be My Maybe
Childhood sweethearts cross paths after falling out 15 years prior. They’ve followed completely different paths but there’s still a spark. Another common storyline but this version is so quirky, and there’s a great “cameo” from Keanu where he’s playing a weird version of himself. Also Ali Wong wears some amazing outfits!
Dumplin
Willowdean “Dumplin” Dickson is not your conventional pageant queen. She decides to enter the local contest in defiance of her well-respected, former pageant queen mother (played perfectly by Jennifer Aniston), who she has a strained relationship with. A great movie enhanced by drag queens and Dolly Parton!
