Recently, a group has formed in my community around sustainability and how we can look after our people and planet better. So far I’ve learned how to make wax wraps for food and tonight I went to my first clothes swapping event.
The idea is simple, everyone attending brings along up to 10 good quality items and they can take the same amount of items home.
Like most people I have a few items in my wardrobe that I not longer wear, or in some cases have never worn, so I thought this was a great way to refresh my look without spending any money.
After our donations were recorded and a quick introduction everyone headed for the rails. The items were split into dresses, tops and bottoms, with a section for shoes and bags too. A few things I’d spotted were snapped up before I got there, but I picked a few things I thought I’d like and headed to the changing room.
A few items went back on the rails, but I was really happy with my picks. I returned home with three new dresses and two jumpers (including a new Star Wars Christmas one).
This is such a great way to update your wardrobe without spending a penny and I really hope they have more of these swishing events. You never know what you’ll find, and pretty much everyone left with something new. And if you change your mind, you can always swap it next time!
